Western Region

The states in the Western Region are: Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, Alaska, Oregon, Washington, California and Hawaii. The Western Region is located in the Western part of the United States. It is by the Pacific Ocean. To see a map of the Western region, click here.

There are two different climates for the western region. One climate area is called the Mountain climate. These states usually receive a ton of snow and rain every year. The Mountain climate also does not get very hot in the summer. Mostly, the Mountain climate is cold and wet compared to the other climate are in the West, the Pacific Climate. The Pacific climate is usually hot and somewhat dry. Areas like Southern California, Nevada, Arizona and New Mexico are very dry and hot in the summer. The Rocky Mountains are the most well known land form in the Western Region. The Rocky Mountains touch 5 different states and even stretch up into Canada! Other important land forms are the Sierra Nevadas, Death Valley, Seqouia National Forest and the Columbia River. The Pacific coast is another land form. To see a map of landforms, click here.
The west has many great travel destinations. The most popular is probably Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming. Another is Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona. Other places include:
