Northeast Region

The Northeast region includes these states: Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. The Northeast region is located in the upper right hand corner of our big map. To see a map of the Northeast region, click here.

The climate for the Northeast region are often pretty mild. Winter is the harshest season because they receive a lot of snow and it can be very cold. Summers are better, but they can get up to 100 degrees! Like the Midwest, spring and fall are usually the best seasons because it isn't too hot or cold. To see a map of tempratures click here.

Landforms in the Northeast can include rivers, mountains, rolling hills and valleys. There is also some grasslands and forests. Along the coast, you can find plenty of rocky cliffs. Major rivers in the northeast are the Hudson river, the Potomac river, the St. Lawrence Seaway and the Atlantic Ocean. To see a map of landforms click here.

Midwest Region

States that are in the Midwest include: Minnesota, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Ohio. The Midwest is located in the middle of the United States. To see a map of the Midwest, click here.

The climate for the Midwest Region is usually mild with average rainfall. The winters are cold and snowy. The summers are not very hot, with temperatures averaging the mid 80's. The most common landforms in the Midwest are plains. Becuase of the mild climate plants grow really well in the Midwest. Other common landforms are rolling hills and valleys. There are not any major mountains in the Midwest. The Midwest also has three major rives and four of the Great Lakes. They are the Mississippi River, the Ohio River and the Missouri River.
