United States Regions, Climate and Landforms

Regions: The United States are broken up into regions. There are four major US regions. They are: Midwest, West, South and Northeast. The states in a region usually have something in common with each other. To see a map of the US regions click here.

Climate: is the average weather in a place over a period of time. Climate is different from weather because weather can change in a matter of minutes, climate can take many years to change. In Minnesota, our climate is cold and somewhat wet, in a place like Texas, the climate is hot and dry. For more info click here.

Landforms: are basically what you see in that place. Landforms can be mountains, canyons, valleys, plains, grassland, forests, deserts, rivers, lakes and coastland. In Minnesota our landforms would be plains, forests, the Mississippi River and Lake Superior. Click here for a map of landforms in the United States.
